About the Ghana Blockchain Conference

Ghana  Blockchain Conference is an annual event organized by the Blockchain Network and its Partner organizations. The Blockchain Conference brings together industry experts, professionals, and enthusiasts to explore the transformative potential of blockchain technology in Ghana. This conference serves as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation, aiming to revolutionise various sectors and contribute to the country’s digital transformation.
The primary goal of the Blockchain Conference is to foster the adoption and understanding of blockchain technology in Ghana. By bringing together key stakeholders, the conference aims to:
Educate: Provide a comprehensive understanding of blockchain technology, its underlying principles, and its potential applications across various industries.
Raise Awareness: Promote awareness about the benefits and opportunities that blockchain offers to businesses, government entities, and individuals in Ghana.
Collaboration and Networking: Facilitate collaboration and networking opportunities among participants, encouraging the formation of partnerships and projects that leverage blockchain technology.
Policy Development: Engage policymakers and regulatory bodies to foster an enabling environment for blockchain technology adoption in Ghana, ensuring proper legal and regulatory frameworks.

Venue and Duration

The conference takes place annually in prominent venues across Ghana, accommodating a large number of participants, including local and international attendees. The duration typically spans one to two days, providing ample time for comprehensive discussions and workshops.

The 2021 Ghana Blockchain Conference was held virtually from October 6th -7th, 2021 with the  theme: “Blockchain for digital transformation”.

There was a Keynote Address on “Financial Vaccination”, followed by main Presentations on “Blockchain: a Regulatory Conundrum” from Bank of Ghana, “Global Collaboration to promote Healthy Blockchain Ecosystem” from Georgetown University. This was followed by several Lightning Presentations  on “Highlighting opportunities in Decentralized Economy for Africa”: Deployment of Blockchain Kiosks at UCC, “BitCoin Exchange” etc .

The Final session was Panel Discussions on “Policy and Regulation for Development” with Panelists from Bank of Ghana, Utafiti, Blockchain Network, UNCDF, TRSTECH, HSRCGH, DNAT etc

Over the years, the attention of our community evolved from blockchain technology and development, to blockchain for development, to blockchain and digital transformation.

The 2023 Ghana Blockchain Conference will be held on November 16th 2023 with the theme: Future of Blockchain Technology, Bitcoin & Cyrpto-currencies “

This Conference looks to deepen the multi-stakeholder approach to the Governance of Blockchain and engage the community to balance innovation and regulation.

The First Ghana Blockchain Conference

The First, Ghana Blockchain conference was held on 16 November 2017 with theme “Blockchain technology and development”. There were main presentations on Africa and blockchain technology, cryptography and blockchain. There were also lightning presentations on blockchain systems, Bitcoin industry and crypto currencies, document verifier, human rights, development and blockchain, Bsafe.network blockchain research update, Ethereum name service and Blockchain Academy update. There was a Governance panel on crypto currency and financial systems and included Bank of Ghana, Cybersecurity Adviser, Blockchain Experts and Legal professionals.

The Second Ghana Blockchain Conference

The Second event was held on 25 October 2018 with theme “Blockchain for development”. It had a moderated session on Governance with Panelists from Bank of Ghana, GHIPSS, Land Lay By, National Security Adviser and UCC. There were lightning presentations on blockchain and crypto currencies, Stamp.africa, Bit-Pesa, the future of digital health, converging blockchain and AI, crypto currency exchange, blockchain hackathon, all about blockchain, blockchain beyond crypto currencies: education use case, Academic Certificate on blockchain, Blockchain Academy update and Blockchain and Education.

The Third Ghana Blockchain Conference

The Third event was held on 28 November 2019 with the theme “Blockchain for digital transformation”. There was a session on blockchain and transformation with Panelists from Bank of Ghana, Trstech, CID, Ghana Police, Margins, and National Security Adviser. There were lightning presentations on Blockchain and issues in Stool lands acquisition; by RMIT university, Ghana Police, Stamp.africa, Emerging Identifiers, Understanding Crypto Currencies as spontaneous order, Blockchain Exchange, Converging Blockchain and AI, Development of Crypto Vending machine, learning as a currency, Blockchain Technology a Major Disrupter and Blockchain Academy Update.
